The Owner (canine)

Our canine owners are reduced to one now: Laijka, aka the Muffin. She greatly misses her big friend Mady, who died Jul 10, 2005.

Laijka was born Dec 31/98 so now (summer 2005) she is 6-1/2 years old. We inherited her from Merike's late brother Juri, who found he was not able to look after her properly from a Toronto apartment. She drove out here to Cobourg with her paws around Merike's neck in the driver's seat -- and she has been a loyal friend to both us ever since. She learned to get along with the cats -- thanks to the excellent training (it took several months) by Kiisu (our senior cat). She is a little disoriented now with Mady gone, for whenever we went out of the house she was used to following her big friend. Without Mady, she's always a little unsure which way the parade is heading. But she'll learn.
