Who we are
Merike Lugus was born in Tallinn, Estonia, spent the war years fleeing through Germany to avoid the Russians, afterwards spent a short time in Sweden, and came to Canada as an 8-year old girl. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a BA in general arts and an MA in sociology but has spent her life instead in the artistic world. She has a daughter Valerie, who is a tenured Professor Ethics at The University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and a daughter Paula in Toronto (but en route to Los Angeles) who graduated in film studies and has produced numerous short films and now her first feature-length film, Goldirocks.
Rod Anderson was born in Toronto, Canada and never got very far away from it all his life -- until he married Merike seventeen years ago and moved sixty miles east to Cobourg. He graduated from the University of Toronto in chemistry but spent most of his career passing himself off as a chartered accountant -- until stumbling into the literary and music world. He has a daughter Sheila who has lived in France (near Bordeaux and then in Paris) and now Toronto and who was until recently a teacher at the Alan Howard Waldorf School in Toronto. She and her husband Xavier have three sons: Pierre (13), Antoine (10), and Samuel (6). He has a son Stephem who lives in Gananoque and renovates houses in the Thousand Islands. He and his wife Maggie have two sons: Taylor (9) and Mackenzie (8).
